The Big Trip - Ghana 2011

Following the 3 month stay in jachie by Letty Bonsma in the last part of 2010, a follow-up group of volunteers, including projects director are  currently preparing and looking forward to travelling to Ghana in July, to continue with the construction work which Letty started and also continue work on other projects.
 

The Team 

Van den Berg family (Henry, Maryolijn, Eva and Ruben) from The Netherlands, who have, of the years, contributed in diverse ways to all TACCO project. 

It is very exciting to have such long standing donors taking the time to visit the projects themselves and witness the impact their support have made to improve the target community.

Kendal Watkins is a young energetic volunteer from USA who regardless of the charity, had plannned to visit Ghana after completing her studies to support a good cause. TACCO is pleased that Kendall found our Creche project interesting and has decided to dedicate her stay in helping to improve the service being provided.

Linda van der Knaap is a long standing honary trustee of TACCO who has travelled several times to assist with the projects.  For this visit, Linda has been collecting prescription glasses from her work (Sofia Children's hospital - Rotterdam).

Jachie Eye Clinic

Other Trusstee members like Antwiwaa and Jan have also been busy with collecting prescription glasses, and toge

there, it is envisaged that Jachie Eye Clinic, located in the same village as TACCO. 

It is envisaged that around 100 pairs of prescription glasses will be presented on this occasion; the biggest ever!

Hoops Care International

Hoops is a small local charity based in Cape Coast set up to help youth education and life skills

through sports.  TACCO will provide assistance with the setup of a children's library. 

Main Task List

  1.  Completion of Perimeter Wall
  2. Commence construction of new classroom block
  3. Repair mini splash pool
  4. Set up Internet access and repair old computers at the computer centre (Jachie)
  5. Review the usage of children's library
  6. Initiate collaboration work with Hoops (Cape Coast - Ghana) to set up a new children's library
  7. Donation of spectacles to Jachie Eye Clinic
